A full-length film always requires a lot of work. There is more time and effort put into production, direction, scenery, casting etc… It simply comes down to the duration of the act. Going in this direction, it seems that at the time of writing this article, the movie ‘General’ became one the most anticipated films in the history of Croatia, with a detailed and lengthy story about the nation’s hero. The main story is settled in multiple locations in Croatia, happening during the early-to-mid-90’s.
The feature film starring actor Goran Visnjic tells the story of the life of Gotovina, one of Croatia’s most important military figures, who was in charge of the ‘Homeland War’ in the 1990s and was later acquitted of war crimes.
While Gotovina was trialed at the UN war crimes court in The Hague, Visnjic took off time from his busy schedule to attend the hearings. Consequently, he made the most logical choice for the role, and once the director announced the start of the project, Goran Visnjic confirmed the news that he will play the lead role in the upcoming movie. The shooting began in the second half of February and will wrap on 20 July 2017.
